PAULA COOPER GALLERY - NEW YORK, NY / Project Architect at Gluckman Mayner Architects

This cathedral like gallery was transformed from its former use as a stable and livery garage.

In the Main Gallery the insertion of two trusses eliminated existing columns forming a column free space.  Skylights hover above the roof framing providing natural lighting while maintaining the original structural character.  Lighting and mechanical elements are placed discretely within the structure to create a serene environment.

Located in a mezzanine level the office and private viewing spaces are tucked under the wood trusses and surrounded by exposed brick walls creating an intimate atmosphere for work.  The private viewing gallery is inserted as a volume within this space providing an ideal atmosphere for viewing individual works of art.
