LUHRING AUGUSTINE - NEW YORK, NY
531 west 24th street
Combination and restoration of a warehouse into a commercial gallery in 1997; modification, addition and new façade 2006;
The steel structure and wood roof preserve the industrial character of the warehouse. Translucent panels, above the horizontal datum of the exhibition walls, create partitions for offices and showrooms. The design helps to maintain the character of the original building and sense of the overall interior while transmitting natural light into ancillary spaces. The new façade signals the new use of the building while making reference to the material and modulation of the original warehouse doors.
25 Knickerbocker Avenue
Expansion of the gallery to Brooklyn for large scale and long-term exhibitions, showroom and storage needs.
